  We're from California, so we love the farm-to-table movement and appreciate simple, quality food.
  
  This place was a little hit-and-miss for me.
  
  We ordered the cheese curds (because it's the Midwest, why not?!), and they were not brought out when they were still hot. So, they were a little disappointing, but fine.
  
  We also ordered a bacon and butternut squash salad that was almost inedible due to the dressing. Either liquid smoke was added to the sauce or they went far too heavy on the smoke flavor - it was entirely unbalanced and overwhelming. My husband will eat salad in almost any form, so he just powered through.
  
  On the other hand, we ordered the rainbow trout (fish of the day) and the pork & beans, and they were both lovely. Very simple, but good clean flavors and huge portions. (Skip the cornbread - it was dry and not worth effort.)
  
  The atmosphere was relaxed, but paper napkins felt too casual for the prices and theme.
  
  Overall, if we were to come back, we'd skip the apps and head straight for the mains.
